stange noise

Hi the last couple of trips i have done on the motorway when i get upto around 55 to 60 mph i,m getting like a rattling "tapping" noise on the drivers side.It sounds to be coming from somewhere in the bulk head above my feet. When i drop the speed down to around 40 mph it seems to vanish.I never here it driving round town.Anyone any ideas what it could be.TIA

Is it something rattling in the slipstream?

Have a look underneath, could be exhaust shield, I've had that come loose on other cars with similar symptoms.

Penny washers and self tappers cured that problem. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Wheel bearings hum and whine. CV joins can click on turning.

Could be be the front drive shafts or front transfer box. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

You need to establish what effects the noise,
Car Speed, Engine Revs, Steering, Gear, Engine Load.
Any other problems showing that you may not necessarily contact with fault?
Have you looked under bonnet with engine running at various speeds, and had a look that everything is still in place around engine? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Could be the front drive shaft but it’s needs a local expert to check it out as clicking on the internet could several things. It’s not going to show as a fault code me thinks. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I used this search to find similar problems on forum
