Has anybody here done the above work at home in the garage? Ive done about 3 Tdci Mondeos in the past.
Can anyone offer any advice, tips, suggest any special tools reqd and an aproximate timescale for the work? Ive been told that the transfer box is a bit of a bitch to remove...?

The subframe is big and heavy

The gearbox is big and very heavy

Other than that, it’s not a difficult job

compared to a Freelander 1 clutch the Freelander 2 transfer box is a pussy.

Never done a FL2 clutch as 2 x FL1 clutches (same car!) on the driveway converted me to automatics for life, but you can do a transfer box swap in a day, so the clutch shouldn't take more than a couple of days on the driveway - it does depend on the amount of tea and biscuits mind. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
