Reversing Camera & Caravan Rear View Camera

Hi All
Been busy making a few add-ons to my FL2.

I brought a small pop up LCD and camera off ebay for around £15.

I removed the LCD from the unit, and then drilled a hole in the recess of the dashboard and fitted the wires through the hole and out via the glove box.

For the power I used a 6 core security camera cable. again off ebay for around £4 for 10 meters.
I took power from the rear fuse box, and then feed the wire along the rear passenger side door seal and then up and through a small hole between the front and rear doors, and then along the roof lining and down to the glove box.

I then soldered the power supply and 2 cores for the camera.

For the camera I removed number plate light and cut a small slot so the camera wire would slot through OK, I then rooted the wire up through the boot and out through the rubber flex tube. I then took that down to rear light cluster.
I tapped into the reversing live wire using a T-Tap wire connector. There was no need to fit the earth for the camera.

For the camera feed wires I soldered these into the 6 core cable.

And hey presto the system worked -

In addition to this I then used the spare infeed AV2 to the LCD as a caravan rear view camera. Same again I soldered 2 wires to the AV2 feed into the LCD.
I then wired a 4 pin aircraft connector to the power supply and the AV2 wires.
The other side of the connector is on the caravan , and this was rooted under the van to the number plate.
With this system when the caravan is connected the camera is on all the time.

Its not a finished project on the van yet, as the next stage is to root the wires correctly and neatly.

Since fitting this have travelled 70 miles and its worked perfectly. I find its very helpful in changing lanes on the motorway - knowing how far the cars are behind the van. And then reversing the van onto the pitch is made a little easier.

The other benefit is that the car camera can be angled down to view the towball, so first time I managed to get within 1cm of the hitch.

Anyway - I hope that was useful.
So in total with the aircraft 4 pin connectors/ T tap clips/ 10 meters of 6 core cable/ extra camera for the caravan it cost less than £30.
