Oil leak at an '07 plate rocker cover

Hi guys, been on the forum for a while but my first post. Put the FL2 2.2 diesel into trusted indie to get Timing belt etc. done and got a call to say the rocker cover was warped probably due to engine heat and was leaking oil. I was advised to have the cover replaced sooner rather than later. I don't know how badly warped the cover is but would like to know if a thicker rocker cover gasket is available and if so how easy is it to replace the gasket and rocker cover. Although in my 80th year am still able to do some maintenance having served my time on buses as a mechanic then cars etc. (five year app in those days). If a new cover is advisable an idea of cost would be appreciated, Thanks in advance, dru.

Fair chance its just oil in the air filter pipes thrown off the Turbo system. I would remove the air cleaner system and had a good look there first. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

No, he's right. The rocker cover tend to leak on some engines. For example, mine leaks on the last round connection from the right, with the cover. Although it's not such big leak, but it shows. Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads... Go beyond !

So Alex if its a slight oil leak you have left it then ? If so, I think I probably would. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

During time I've come to conclusion that if it's only wet and don't form any drop of oil, then leave it alone. That is not a leak. Very Happy Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads... Go beyond !

If you trust the guy and he knows his stuff, I would let him do the necessary.

As long as your sure he is not bullshiting you.

My rocker cover is now leaking as well. I will have it replaced next week, as my mechanic says Land Rover sent info to the dealers that the covers get warped in many cases, as with dru337. I.e. only changing the gasket will not solve the problem, but will only result in the leak continuing after some weeks or so.

My mechanic (working in main LR dealer in Stockholm) had already changed the rocker cover on 23 (!) FL2 and Evoque. I am a bit surprised that there is not more written on this forum on the rocker cover issue.

By the way, my car is a 2007 with approx 190 000 km.
