United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

No GTIs for a 17 year old Im afraid.
Specifically looking at these as the lower spec models are all insurance group 1, cheapest to insure.
He's getting the car bought and 1st year insurance paid for to get him started on the road. From then on all the running expenses will be down to him. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

So we went and test drove a few yesterday. Ended up buying a 2014 3 door Move Up! in bright Tornado red. Very basic but a hoot to drive. Not collecting it until just before his birthday next month Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I got a 2010 Toyota Aygo (998cc) for my boy (aged 17) to learn to drive in. It's super cheap to run and huge fun to drive.

Now he has to learn basic maintenance for the car! I think it took me about 10 years to learn most of the nuances of driving. Still learning other aspects of driving today, like 4WDriving.

Down under a learner or provisional driver in NSW is not allowed to drive a petrol engine with a turbo, so the petrol Freelander is out, diesel with turbo is ok. http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/licence/dr...tions.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
