Panic button on 2007 Freelander 2 HSE

Does anyone know if the "panic" button on the 5 button remote for an HSE should work as standard. I have tried setting off the alarm by holding the button down but all that happens is the hazard lights flash a couple of times and no alarm sounds?

sets off alarm on the key free ignition on later cars when pressed or maybe its the horn but you certainly hear it. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

From memory, on the 5-button remote you have to press the button three times, and it sounds the horn rather than the alarm.

Thanks for the replies. I will try pressing the button three times when I get home. I did try holding it down for three seconds but don't get the horn to sound. The alarm definitely works because the horn sounds if I open the passenger door with the key. Just thought that maybe the Emergency Alarm feature may have been disabled

From the manual:

Quote:
Emergency alarm

Press and hold for three seconds, or press twice within three seconds, to activate the horn and the hazard lamps.

Once active for more than five seconds the alarm can be cancelled by pressing the button and holding for three seconds, or pressing twice within three seconds.

Note: The horn and hazard lamps will switch off automatically after two minutes and forty five seconds.

So your 3-second press should have done it.

I checked the car last night and it doesn't have the motion sensor or separate alarm siren. It just sounds the horn if the doors are opened when it is locked and I use the emergency key. Not sure if the panic switch needs the volumetric alarm to be fitted or if it should still work with just the car horn? The manual isn't very clear on that Sad

Still not having any joy with this. It looks like the hazzard lights blink as expected but the horn doesn't sound. Does anyone know how to reset the alarm finction?

LOL just bought a Nanocom and downloaded a modified CCF to set the Panic alarm to panic. It was set to a partial setting where it just flashed the lights. Also managed to set the radio to Europe instead of Japan so I can now get the full frequency band.
