Laughing Those days are over. Glad I went for DSG though. It’s like pure silk and coming off 12 hour shifts with my occasionally iffy back, I’ll be glad not to be changing gear. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I quite like the look of the new Audi Q3. That may be on my list next time. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Here it is! Very pleased with it and loving the smart phone mirroring! Also very pleased with the DSG gearbox but I prefer it with the stop/start disabled to avoid hesitation when pulling away. I’ll enable stop/start when I know I’m going to be stopped for more than just a few seconds.

I’ve also been sampling S mode on the gearbox for when I need to pull out quickly and it’s a noticeable difference.

Just waiting for the valeter to arrive now to do the diamondbrite treatment at £300 cheaper than the dealer price! Very Happy

I find it amusing that the Polo is now bigger than the original Golf. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Are you an auto convert now? I am currently looking at changing my manual and can't decide between auto and manual. I know you used to prefer manuals but like you I work long hours and just pressing the go pedal does sound appealing!

I still like manuals but ‘‘twas the DSG box that brought me around to the idea. Ultra fast and smooth changes with no loss of torque at each change and they are as economical as manuals.

The long hours, occasional grief with my back and heavy traffic into town made it a no brainer this time. I think if anything it’s a little keen to change up early and it’s in 6th at 40 which only leaves 7th to go. However, sport mode changes things as you can imagine.

Only day one though so got to get used to it’s characteristics. Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I wouldn’t go back to a manual now. The modern auto is a lot better than the auto boxes of yester year and fuel economy is on a par with a manual.

You’re going to be spending a lot of time cleaning that infotainment screen. It’s a never ending job in my Velar. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Spot on regarding the touch screen Laughing

The winter tyres arrived yesterday as well, which I’ll stash until October or November. With a very quick sale of the old ones on eBay, I’ve only had to part with £65. After much research, I opted for Hankook i*cept RS2 which finished 2nd overall to the considerably more expensive Continentals but finished top in the snow category.

£175 delivered vs £260 for the Continentals.
