Dashcams malfunctioning in direct sunlight

I have a Thinkware F770 dashcam and during the heatwave, I have had to put a windscreen cover on everyday when parked which defeats the parking recording facility obviously.

Not using the screen cover results in the camera being so hot you can’t bear to touch it and it refuses to power up. The start up melody just repeats itself endlessly. It takes several minutes of pumping air con on max cold on hurricane mode at the windscreen to cool the camera down before it’ll work.

Anyone else noticed this with any other brands of camera? I don’t recall it happening with the Roadhawk I used to have. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Not surprising really given the weather we’ve been experiencing . In the past I’ve cooked a sat nav whilst on holiday in Texas and an I Phone on holiday in Spain this year . Both worked again after cooling . The satnav was worrying as it packed in on a 6 lane highway whilst we were heading back to the airport . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Unsure about not working Doc but fed up of mine falling off 3M sticky pad Censored stays on glass but off holder bracket. Got a good old fashioned cable tie up around mirror now as back up to stop it swinging into passenger door again. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Many of the dashcams with internal batteries are slowly expanding and bursting the plastic housings. Those that use 'super capacitors' are fine though Cheers,

My F750 is working fine, no issue with heat or anything

Caught 2 people on it too, one a carpark ding and the other a hit and run

The pads that came with my thinkware have been great, the replacement pad (3M all season tape) has failed a few times on the tiny rear camera Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have noticed that mine (F770) gets hot, Shocked
I see in the sales blurb it's supposed to turn itself off to prevent overheating
I do try to park facing away from the sun and I expect the privacy glass helps.
