Restricted Performance in ALL Areas

It finally arrived, the warning of ‘Restricted Performance’ on the screen. It came after the car started a whooshing sound when I put the car under load, this was then followed by no power. It would crawl along, much to the disgust of those on the road behind me.
I, like many others on this forum have to turn for help at this stage.
So I rang my local Land Rover Dealership. It was answered quickly and effiently and I was put through to service.
This where more Restricted Service began. No one answered. After a while the message of ‘your call is important to us’ came on, asking me to leave a message. I left a message, even mentioning I had extended warranty.
Land Rover called back, I explained the problem, ‘no problem’ was the reply, ‘ let’s get you booked in’.
‘How about the 17th July for a 2 hour checkup to find the cause? it comes with a £156 bill’.
Silence at my end as this was best part of 3 weeks away.
Coming from Yorkshire the final comment hit home, ‘How Much’ I shouted followed by ‘Have you got that date right?’
To cut this tale short, it went from bad to worse with my car being booked into 2 dealerships at the same time for this diagnostic rip off.
Bottom line....
I saw the light, I am now the owner of a 3 month old Skoda Kodiaq, 5 Seat Edition.
And yes George, it has a tow bar that very neatly hides away!
I have very much enjoyed my times with all you guys on this forum and all the advice you have freely given, many thanks.
I enjoyed even more my time with the Freelander, but ‘Restricted Service’ was the final straw. One Discovery, gone

I wonder if it might be appropriate for this to be moved (or copied) to the “Customer Relations” part of the board? These long lead times for repair (and disinterest in all but the newest vehicles) seem to be a very common feature of LR dealerships and harm the brand. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Sounds like it was a split turbo hose, fairly common and an easy fix. A quick shout out on here would have helped find the cause and also perhaps got you the name of a good local garage who could have done the work sooner. Unfortunately long lead times for repairs are however not exclusive to Franchise dealers and most if not all independent garages will have a long waiting list for repairs. This makes it all the more important to try and build a good relationship with your local garage so that you are more than just another customer when the time comes that you need their help. Good luck with your new Skoda! Thumbs Up

Restricted Performance

Yes I did try a local independent, who said in his experience this could be a can of worms. He is a specialist in these cars and experience has led him to be vary wary.
Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but just maybe it reinforced my own gut feeling that the time had come for a change.
Many thanks for your interest. One Discovery, gone

I'm gobsmacked that you have an extended warranty and they still want to charge you £156 for a diagnostic !

How does this come about ? Can’t see how you can charge to clear a warranty fault. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

If under extended warranty call out LR Assist say that you are afraid to drive it, they will diagnose on your drive and arrange for a hire car and book it into your dealer of choice who will be under pressure to get it sorted. I have even called them out when my windscreen washers packed up as it's illegal to drive without them. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had the same problem and symptoms as the original poster. Garage couldn't see it for 3 weeks so called out LandRover Assist and the guy diagnosed a split turbo hose, stripped it all out and done a temporary repair to try and see me out until the garage could repair under warranty. It worked for the 3 weeks! Great service and outcome even though the lead time for the two landy garages I tried were both 3 weeks. Got me around until full repair.
