Ok so not my motor but a friends intermittently not going in or out of gear
But if you stop the engine and try it sometimes it will sometimes it won’t
If you get it in gear and start the engine the clutch seems to work fine
But also it taken to starting on the button without clutch or brake being pressed
It’s an 09 td4

You are describing on the face of it 2 different faults.

One being a typical worn out clutch and the other a electronic interlock issue. Any fault codes ?

Will cost a few quid to sort me thinks unless it’s just a linked fault on the pedal assembly. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

First problem sounds like a dragging clutch - intermittently dragging usually means there is an obstruction under the clutch fingers preventing full disengagement. I’ve had that a few times over the years on various jobs I’ve done and it was always a coil spring from the centre plate that had broken free and was floating about. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Many cars will baulk selecting gears without the engine spinning, its common enough.

Quality part will have a 12 month warranty, so if its less than 12 months roll it back to the people who changed the clutch. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Clutch as I have now been told was January 17 so over 12 months
