Easier to just buy a 2nd hand manifold without the swirl flaps. 
Hung like Einstein, smart as a horse.

True, a later manifold without swirl flaps would be slightly easier.

However for 10 minutes extra work with a pair of pliers I'll keep the £60-£80 in my pocket.
