Trick for those without Bluetooth music streaming.

Hello all,

My 2010 Freelander doesn't have Bluetooth streaming, and, not wanting to replace the standard unit I've found a nifty little trick.

I bought a Bluetooth remote from eBay for less than £10. This pairs to the phone and controls the phone's volume, as well as play, pause and track select. Now all I have to do is plug the phone into the aux port and I can control the phone without having to look away!

It's not very big and doesn't become an eyesore too.

Stephen

Looks a nifty piece of kit, do you know if it works for iPhone or would the usual Apple dislike of having its devices talk to anything else prevent it working? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Here's a link to the one I bought, it does indicate iPhones are compatible Smile

Grrrr... “This item doesn’t post to Scottish Highlands” !

Yet they actually show the Royal Mail logo above the picture! Do they not understand that the Royal Mail has a universal service obligation and reaches all parts of the UK at the same cost? We should stop sending whisky south until we get parity! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Hmm, there are quite a few on eBay from different sellers. This one seems to deliver to you as far as I can see? (I tried typing in a highlands postcode and the free delivery still appeared)

How does that unit get its power/recharge?

My current aftermarket Bluetooth module plugs into the Aux port and is in constant charge with its USB cable plugged into the adjoining power socket.
I can play my IPhone music via the module and through the car speaker system and use the steering wheel volume control buttons .... but I can't skip tracks without handling the phone(which I won't do whilst driving). FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

It just uses a watch battery for power, but it turns itself off after half an hour if you don't use it (you just have to push the play button to turn it back on), so I wouldn't imagine it uses too much power so the battery should last a while.

Looks like this (these) will work with the radio in my caravan as well. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Hi,

Dumb question alarm ringing here, but I use the phone a lot in the car and need to ask...

With this device, do the steering wheel phone buttons still take/make calls, and if so does the music then stop playing when a call comes in (or goes out) under the control of your device??

I bought something like this a year or so ago and found that it literally just replicated the music playing, so I had to stop the music myself and then answer the phone from the steering wheel... not ideal...

Cheers! Lexus RX450H - 500 mile a week commuter- I just couldn’t trust in a newer RRS or DS for that….
2009 Freelander 2 HSE... 155K miles, we’ve done 135k of those, has done brilliantly on the commute and staying firmly put as car two in the household
2002 Jaguar XK8 Coupe... fun, fast, ours for 12 years and owes us nothing - so staying with us too…
