United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Orkney Grey
Dash-cam & Rear Camera.

I have just fitted a dash-cam & rear camera on my Freelander 2. I am waiting for a hard wire kit but using the cigarette lighter socket until it arrives.
Fairly easy job to do as long as your careful pulling the trim about & running cables clear of any airbags etc.

Its all working ok, when I select reverse gear the rear camera displays on the screen to obviously aid parking. It has a grid system red/blue with a stop within the red line nearest the car, I have placed a box to be on the red line nearest the car with the stop lettering but its still quite a way from the bumper on the car, if I tilt the camera down too much I start to lose decent rear view of whats behind me. I know I have a rear view mirror for that but I think the rear camera also records while going along so it would not see much unless it was almost on my bumper.

Could someone advise as how to calibrate this, if I stop when the red line says so I will be 2 to 3 meters from the object.
I fitted the rear view camera on the tailgate door at the top on the inside to keep it out of the weather, have I fitted it to high up ? Any advice on how its best to calibrate the camera would be very useful. Thanks in anticipation of any help.

Just one of the cheaper types from Ebay. I have had one in my van for about 3 years & not had any problems. I did not have a rear camera for my van so have not had the graph problem with it.

Nextbase are saying that they are releasing the Rear View Camera for their 512GW on May 15th.

It seems it will appear in Halfords first.

Personally, I will believe it when I actually see one, as the promised camera has had months and months of delays.

It seems that there has been some issues with interference from the rear camera/cable being near the car's aerials.

Talk of Graphite Cores (professional) or Tin Foil Tape (amateur) on the Nextbase forums.

I'm looking forward to obtaining and fitting one. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

As NEXTBASE missed their reported 15th May deadline, I asked their sales team.

This is the reply

Hello Ian

We are receiving stock of the 512GW Rear Cam at the end of the week.

This should be available to purchase online and via retailers, including Halfords, in the next few weeks.

Thanks
