At idle is about 250 bars (25 MPa), during cranking being much less. But not as low as you get (16 bars)...
Check the pressure sensor on the left end of the common rail. And open or short circuit circuit will shutdown the engine.
You have 3 wires there, ground, 5V power supply and a signal wire, on which you must have about 0.5V at 230 Bars up to 4.5V at 1600 Bars.
Also check the pressure control valve at the right side of the common rail. It's a solenoid valve, whose resistance is about 3.6 ohms. Also a problem with it will shutdown the engine.

update: the pressure is not 1.6 Mpa is 16 Mpa or 16000Kpa or 160bar at cranking, my question: that pressure is fine for start the engine?

Yes, 160 bars are OK.

South Africa 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Ipanema Sand

Hi All,
Apologies for bringing this up again.
As I was trying to accelerate earlier today the car gave a bit of a hiccup, I checked the DTC code and got P2297 O2 Sensor.

While checking the data captured at the time of the recording I see the Fuel Rail pressure was 31MPA.

I know at idle the pressure is at 25MPA as per Alex's earlier mail, but at 62Km/H and at 1790 RPM I was expecting it to be a little lower.

Recently I have been experiencing over fueling issues so I am trying to understand if my fuel pump is failing, because if I look at the live data at times the fuel pump graph shows some nice square waves the all of a sudden it is erratic but the pressure never falls below the 25MPA reading.

Regards Thanks

SMG
