United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
Opinions on possible new car pls

I am looking to trade in my56 and have found this.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...obcid=soc3
Firstly does this look like a good deal?
Should i opt for SD4 not TD4?
And i thought all HSE models were colour coded is there a reason why the sill covers and mirrors are black?

Ta MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)
MY07 FL2 SE TD4 black (gone)
MY13 FL2 GS TD4 Santorini black

Looks a tad on the expensive side to me. I bought my same-age/almost-identical-mileage TD4 XS last November from a non-Land Rover dealer for £11,000. Admittedly, mine is a manual, and slightly lower spec (though does have full leather) but I'm surprised if a different gearbox and a few extra frills adds as much as £2000. The description is a bit confusing - 3 month or 6 month warranty? And don't all the Autos have the 190bhp version of the engine? Currently enjoying:
2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS (SOLD)
2013 BMW X3 20D M-Sport Auto
2007 Jaguar XK 4.2 Coupe

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

I believe early FL2’s which was only the option of a TD4 or SI6. At the time the TD4 had 10 more Bhp bringing it up to 160Bhp or SI6 was 240Bhp.

ED4 Manual - 150Bhp
TD4 Manual - 150Bhp
TD4 Auto - 150Bhp
SD4 Auto - 190Bhp
SI4 Auto - 240Bhp MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
MY15 Xenon Headlight Conversion

MY17 RRS SVR - Estoril Blue Cirrus/Ebony 🪣💺’s

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Thanks guys.
I have looked at quite a few on auto trader and on the facelift 2011’s there is a mixture of both TD4 and SD4’s. I have also seen a sport LE in white that appears to have all the kit of the HSE with more external mouldings. 56000 miles for £13000. Very nice in white. MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)
MY07 FL2 SE TD4 black (gone)
MY13 FL2 GS TD4 Santorini black

I would go for a car with the updated interior and wiring etc from around MY12 onwards as even a GS has leather. Look on Car Gurus for a Nationwide selection. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

My preference would be for an Sd4 over a Td4, the extra power and torque make the Sd4 a brilliant driving and towing car.
I went for a lower spec GS Sd4 over an XS Td4 which were available when I was buying last year. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

2014 Orkney grey Freelander SD4 GS.
2004 Zambezi silver Discovery 2 Td5 (Gone)
1963 Surf blue Morris Mini Minor Super de Luxe (my little toy)

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

Wasn't it MY 13 onwards when the big changes occured - basically all the Evoque stuff ? Looks a bit pricey especially from a non LR dealer and independent warranty. Agree with the SD4/auto comments though, very nice combination. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Mines a Td4 and says 150bhp. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

All the SD4s are auto. I think that it was decided that the clutch on the manual would not take the extra power.

The asking price might be on the high side but it really all comes down to the price to change. If the garage offer you top book for yours as a trade in then the asking price becomes more sensible. Also worth considering is how you will use the car. Will you tow with it? Does it have a full size spare or a puncture kit? Having to get these after you have bought it might mean a few hundred having to be spent to get it the way you want it.

its definitely an HSE, but no idea why the lower door trims etc aren't colour coded.

MOT history looks spot on, no advisories ever, but failed it first MOT on brake pads so not major.

prices do get a bit more expensive the further south you go, so in real terms that price isn't too bad and it looks a nice enough motor.

personally I would go for the Sport LE you have seen if the history and condition are as good as the HSE as they are a rarer spec and look good (only 500 made for UK I think) and like you say similar spec to the HSE Whistle

Thank you all. I will look into the Sport LE I think as it looks lovely and low mileage compared with most hat age. MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)
MY07 FL2 SE TD4 black (gone)
