In general Freelanders don't rust, then again most of them are relatively new,

Just look up metal edge protection on ebay, just cut to length yourself. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

My FL2 is long gone unfortunately so I can't get exact measurements, but take a look at 727-6037 as an example Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |

I use waxoyl and/or bilt hambers dynax ub. I take the wheels off and Jack the car up. Power wash the car off and use a wire brush on any rusting bits then use a compressor and spray gun to apply the underseal. |

“Freelancers don’t rust”. That’s just wishful thinking. I bought my 2009 HSE last September from a JLR main dealer.

. I got some from somewhere called the metal house I think on eBay. It's not as deep/ wide as the original but covers the edges fine |

One issue Ive had with plastic wheel arch liners in the past is that they can sometimes wear away the body work paint/underseal where they touch, especially if there is vibration/movement - something to check out when your head is inside the wheel arch maybe.

I shall be under the car in the next month as soon as I can get it onto the hydraulic ramp on the farm next door - will give the Waxoyl treatment at the same time. Jules |

Worth removing the plastic trims on the door bottoms and the long plastic sills to clean behind, i did my door bottoms yesterday and was shocked at the amount of mud/ dirt behind there - all cleaned and polished now |

I found this description of gulvanising and protection of FL2 body on the forum. (warning it seems to have been translated from an unknown language with odd consequenses)

Remember in the 70's when after 3 or 4 years you would be looking for signs of rust around the tops of your McPherson struts? Common MOT failure on Ford Escorts, Vauxhall Vivas etc. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto 5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE |
