I am in Oslo Norway at present. Plastic bottles, glass bottles, beer cans, pop cans are ALL recycled at the local supermarkets. Bottles/cans are deposited in the relevant “ATM” type machine and a credit slip is issued for the transaction. This is as good as cash for your next purchase.
Most people treat recycling very seriously. Having said that, they also make a point of crossing roads at Zebra crossings and do not jaywalk.
Today I walked down a street that had a full row of electric eco cars (Tesla’s etc) all plugged in to kerbside charging points.
