Recalling Memory Seat Position Metropolis

Please can you help. Every time someone else drives my car and I try to recall my saved seat and mirror position, it doesn't seem to work. It seems like my memory position gets overwritten and lost. My car has just been serviced and when I pressed memory 3 to recall the position it was nothing like my stored position. It generally takes a few days of minor adjustments to get my seat just right so I am keen to avoid this happening again. I drive 300 miles each week to work and back then a bit more as I love driving the car.
Thanks in advance. I am following the instructions to the letter ie press memory then 3 but it seems to remember the lseat position used by the last person who drove it. Can you tell me how to stop my position being overwritten when someone else drives
Thanks Freelander 2 Metropolis 64 in Loire Blue with Ivory Windsor Leather. Previously Range Rover Evoque PureTech for 3weeks. Freelander2 XS and Freelander2 S.

Er.....pressing "Memory" and then a button simply stores the CURRENT seat/mirror position into that memory slot.

If you want to recall a previously set position, just press the numbered button. (ie without pressing "Memory").

Try pressing and holding the seat position button, if I press mine it doesn't always go to the preset, if I press and hold it does seem to go to the correct position.
Of course, if however else, is driving and the press the memory button then the others it will overwrite the settings.

Just another thought ... It's not dependant on which key is used is it?

Yes - its key dependant.

But if the OP is pressing "Memory" and then a number, all he is doing is simply overwriting whatever is currently set with the current mirror/seat position.

As you say Taz - if whoever is servicing it doesn't understand how the seat works, then they may be pressing "Memory" and a number in an effort to try and restart it to the owners driving position - but all they're doing is wiping whatever was set there before....

Keys, that's why mine changes then Laughing

I wondered about his wording and the way he presses the buttons but gave him the benefit ... Let's see what he comes back with

The seat memory & easy entry/exit feature seem to have a mind of their own as it often doesn't go back to the position it was set as once you close the door & start. The Evoque does the same or at least the one I had did. This was one of the reasons when I ordered my second Evoque I left it as manual seats. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

People also need to be aware that memory recall/setting will not work unless Vehicle is stationary. It’s a safety thing Rolling Eyes

Please can you post an image of page as it is not on p13 in my handbook. (Also the page saying ,if it does, that the memory positions are decided by the key used) I need to understand how to set it up.

Although my car was supplied with it enabled, I have disabled it in the dash menu as it did not seem to come back reliably to my M1 position. (I was very wary that it was trying to take my kneecaps off every now and again as I pressed the start button.)

The return position seemed a bit random? Otherwise the seats and reverse mirrors work fine.

PS I had lots of problems (caused by my lack of understanding) back in 2004, when my new Vauxhall Signum came with key sensitive memory of the seats, external AND internal mirrors. The car was delivered by a short salesman, although my knees were saved by the fact it altered it all as you unlocked and before the door was opened. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I note that, still, nobody has come up with the PUBLISHED instructions / explanation of the Easy Entry function of the FL2 Memory Seats.
As shown, P13 does not show the function. I am sure that if I knew what to expect and I would be able to get mine working reliably to the memorised positions. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
