Looks like any other car really with a claimed 298 mile range and £64k price tag. Made me think about the realities of electric cars in current bad weather conditions. I wonder what the range would be at the moment given that you would need the heater and fans plus lights on all the time? And if you got stuck in a snowdrift and run the battery down trying to keep warm the AA are unlikely to be able to give you a roadside charge to get you moving again.

who cares about being stuck or recharging etc etc etc

at least the government has done its bit and reduced toxic emissions from the diesel motors they endorsed and encouraged before changing their minds to appease the minority tree huggers.

not to mention the effect low temperatures have on battery life even if nothing is drawing from the battery.

electric cars are (IMHO) a long way off being a viable, all year round, globally usable alternative to the combustion engine.

I don't doubt that we need to move away from petrol and diesel at some point, they aren't endless fuel resources after all and they do pollute. But electric cars are just not ready to hit the streets en masse just yet. The range(s) are not good especially when compared to recharge time, even the ones that its claimed can do 300 miles between charges will take many hours to charge fully and properly.

Plus, even in optimal conditions during the cars lifetime, what is the lifespan of the batteries ? 5 years?.... so will the whole car be scrapped when its 5 years old... as opposed to some current combustion engine cars that run until they are 20/30/40 years old

If one deducted the price of the battery pack it comes in about £52-55K comparing the cost of other electric vehicle battery pack prices. The next from the JLR stable must be an iVelar Whistle my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
