Any tips/tricks on how to cure closed sunroof wind noise?

Hi all,

I'm a new 2008 HSE owner.

Sunroof is generating noise fully closed at above 60mph.

Tilt and it goes away, shut it and noise instantly comes back. I've searched for 4 days on the internet with no method or cure!

Looks 'almost' flush with rear sunroof and seals seem fine. My apologies if this is a banal question but it is distracting me from the overall driving experience.

Cheers.

Many many years ago I used to fit (1978) Hollandia electric sunroofs in top end vehicles of the time. There used to be an adjustment at the rear of the roof panel to lift up/down not sure if the L/R roofs have, when I get chance I will have a look at mine. But in the immediate term, spray down the side/front and rear channels and if there is a seal on the panel, that too with good ole WD40 or a decent Silicone spray. The seals tend to dry up over time which causes the panel to not seat correctly, if you have access to an airline, blow all the crap out of the channels and wipe clean then spray. REME .. Thanks for the reply.

Yesterday I wiped all the seals with Autoglym rubber and vinyl restorer and cleaned the channels, they were not very dirty to be honest. That has made no difference.

Today I taped up the rear shut line were the two glass panels meet. No difference. I then did the front and sides, also with no difference. Note, I did one side at a time and not altogether.

Do you mean there is a manual way of tilting the pane up and down? eg with a screwdriver adjustment?

This is the first car I've owned with a sunroof. The dealer I got it from 'promised' to get it sorted before I picked it up but as per usual, I have been let down.

Thanks for the advice, if you have any other suggestions then let me know.

Cheers.

I have still not been out to look at mine however, been having a think of how I used to adjust the panel and to lift the rear up it was on forwards tilt, this allows access to the adjustment at the rear sides of the panel to allow up/down movement. This is all of the top of my head thinking of the logical way that these things work and without looking at mine, also now I think of it, I have not seen a manual method of closing the roof in case of motor failure or electric fault. At the rear of the type I fitted was access through the headlining to a small ratchet which closed the roof. REME .. Rough Engineering Made Easy

Will have to give this a go at some point.

do you have to dismantle any part of the sunroof to do this?
