My Trip to The Lakes

Spent 10 days in The Lakes recently and did a bit of walking and enjoyed the scenery, remembering good time spent up there with my father.

thought i would share a few photos of the fantastic scenery captured in between showers

I have slept overnight in Cathedral Cavern on an Outward Bound Course Sheep

I seem to remember it having a little more green slate colour, possibly slightly over exposed, did you use flash or just a B type (time) setting on tripod ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

It was a hand held photo, well 5 hand helds, it was shot on a higher ISO1600 and tweaked a little but not much, the sun shining in on the pillar and off the pond made the cave brighter, but was a lot darker/greener when the sun went in, the top of the cavern was a different colour though and not as green Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i noticed that there was some ropes hang from a high part of the ceiling Thumbs Up

Took me two visits to find this place, first lot of directions were Censored and i walked 2 miles in wrong direction, the second time, the daughter saw a path leading off the track to it and was positive it was the short cut the man told us about the previous time, that took us up footpaths to the top of the quarry and eventually found it 50 yards down the track after a 2 hour round trip

Funnily it not shown on the viewranger OS maps at 1:50,000 i had, but shows on the online free maps, which was no good as there was no phone reception Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Next time you go find the mine level walkway, up to the right of near where you took your picture. Best done form other side of hill with no light on and you do run out of day light for a minute or so, good way to get Outward Bound students attention. I only do it that way as I have done it many times, I use a stick to feel the right hand wall and walk very slowly but if some begger set a trap I would carp myself. Laughing We abseiled there on the outer wall to the right of the cavern but it needed some gardening so take care. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Cheers

Going to have to get out more with the camera this year

Last year, putting together the family album calendar I was struggling for photos of the kids and was disappointed with amount taken of landscapes etc

Might head out for a few more nights away, maybe a wild camp to get a sunset and sunrise from a mountain top Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
