2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black
Pro Diesel Chip

I'm not sure if this has been covered before, but has anyone fitted the above chip to their vehicle. I have a 2008 TD4 and where I live, there are lots of hills. Getting a bit more power without increasing fuel use would be good, but my question is, do these actually work?

hi valleyboy
answer to you question is yes and no!
I had one on my last d3,mine was a "probitz chip"cost around £90 with a one month return warranty iff not happy with it.
my d3 went from 190 bhp to 220bhp with a lot of extra torque, not that a d3 is lacking in that.but as I tow a caravan I thought why not.used it for a year,no problems, felt much smoother through the powertrain and sorted out the turbo lag.driven normaly got an extra 3-4 mpg,so as far as I could tell it" did what it said on the tin"
one thing to remember is it is a modification, you will need to tell your insurance company,or you might end up with none if you had to claim.
a lot of people on fl2 and d3 have used them and the debate will no doubt rage on as to the pro,s and con,s.
good luck

Thanks for the reply and advice. The one I was looking at costs £125. I'm not looking at getting my money back by the amount of fuel I save, but to get more power. There's a hell of a lot of steep hills where I'm from, plus, I use my vehicle going on farms for vermin control. Many of these have hills to navigate before reaching them. Plus, I only do an average of 7500 miles per year.

Steve.
