Rear Wiper Problem

Hi

New to the forum but been a Land Rover owner all my life.

We have a Freelander 2 i6 (57 plate) which we've owned from new. To be honest its been the most relible car I've ever owned, until the other week when the rear wiper stopped working.

A quick bit of first line diagnostics found the fuse (F20) blown so assuming it was probably a worn out and siezed motor I took the plunge and fitted a new wiper motor. Interestingly when I came to fit the new fuse it blew immediately, the ignition was off and the key was sat on the drivers seat.

I removed the relay in the luggage compartment on the assumption that the relay might be shot but it again blew the fuse.

I'm guessing it's a straight short but before digging out the meter and wasting days chasing it down has anyone ever experienced this before.

Thanks in advance.
