swirl and twirl

Next year is the big 10 year service for my 2008 2.2l td4, with full Land Rover service history, now apart from auto box and the timing belt (by local indie service) I intend to carry out everything else myself. one of the jobs I am concerned about is the swirl flaps ive just heard about. Does my engine have them and what do i do about them, also any other jobs i should carry out that you good people think i should do
absolutely love this car so want to make sure i can get 10 more years out of it
cheers in advance lads

for peace of mind about swirl, just swap your manifold with an Evoque one.
I done this on mine FL2 after fond a cheap Evoque manifold on Ibay for a fistful of £ Wink

10 more years. Cool He must be from Yorkshire Wink

Take a couple of days out and about and visit Austen Bell and have a full Haldex Service done by him if you want 10 more years. Good local pub and curry to be had as well. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

Having just had the cam belt replaced I’m also now looking at removing the swirl flaps by replacing the manifold.

I’ve just picked one up from ebay from a Ford. If you search above you’ll find others who have fitted one with this part number 9659449480. I just need to order new seals and armed and with the Haynes manual I’ll have a go a fitting it.

If you’ve not done so yet it might be worth blanking off the EGR. You can pick up the plate on ebay for very little. I did mine a couple of years ago and the only thing I’ve notice is the mpg improving by 2 mpg.
