Front windscreen, only 2" band clearing

Hi all. I've done a bit of searching on this so far. Our '56 Freelander front screen only clears a 2" band when using the heated element. Nothing anywhere else. Possible causes seem to be;
Fuses/relay(s) - as it's just a small area that clears then I don't think this is the issue.
Supply to windscreen - as above.
Connectors top and bottom - as above.
Corrosion - there are a few 'milky' areas on the perimeter of the screen so this is my hunch for the cause.

I was wondering what the milky bits were all about so every day is a school day I guess! 😉

Firstly, SEARCH 'Heated Windscreen' as there has been an active thread recently.

The milky portion is delamination, a problem on early models. LR would not change the screens. I did hear LR tried to offer a solution. A perimeter Vinyl wrap to cover the milky area, although I have never seen this on a vehicle.

Yeah, had searched and found numerous threads. Just been out for a peek and there's a milky line all the way across the top of the windscreen and a thin line down each side. There're also a few 'snail trails' a few cm long down from the top. Looks like there's probable corrosion all along the top hence the screen not working.

But surely that would increase the risk of picking up a large, unfixable, chip in the windscreen? I think that may be an 'excess'ive course of action...

Possibly but the "excess" cost of claiming for a new screen could mitigate that. Rolling Eyes FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
