Strange Light Sequence??

I’ve done a search and read the handbook but........

I had a headlamp bulb go, yesterday. Fixed now but as I was just checking my lights out, after, I thought the switch/light sequence seemed a bit weird I usually just leave my lights on auto, all the time and not give it a lot of thought but.....

When I start the car (MY13) I get the little strip running lights come on.
If I move the light switch to OFF I get the running lights and the round LED’s come on
If I move the switch to sidelight setting the round LED’s go off????
Dip & Main beam - the big lights are on but the round LED’s are not

This doesn’t seem right.

The handbook doesn’t say a lot about the lights but I would have thought that when the switch says OFF I should just get the running lights and the round LED’s should come on when the switch is on sidelights???

Now that’s probably not the clearest of explanations but any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It sounds correct to me, when I unlocked my car the signature strips and the round DRLs came on. The DRLs then turn off, leaving the sig strips on. The sig strip acts as side light, mthe round ones go off if you indicate or turn lights to any other position than off.

One thing I am not 100% about is when you say start car, the DRLs should be on.

I can't check if mine are exactly the same as I no longer have the Freelander.
