Confused

Good morning everyone, I recently bought an fl2 hse. It seems to have quite a miss mash of tyres which I am going to replace with a set of Cooper Weathermasters. I've read the reviews and they seem quite good. I'm in a quandary though because in the boo, the spare is an 18" wrangler which looks nearly new but it's an 18" (19" everywhere else) if anyone can advise on the Coopers or the rogue spare then I'd love to hear from you.

I wouldn't worry about the spare, it's just that 'a spare' (as long as its legal) ...... unless you are planning on using it.

In general, the overall rolling radius for an 18" should be the same as a 19"
e.g. the smaller the wheel, the bigger the sidewall.

For the last 3 years I've been running 20" Evoque wheels and still have the original 17" as a spare and never had to use it.
If I did, it would just be for a 'get me home'.

sounds like someone has either replaced/retro fitted the spare or replaced the 18''road wheels with 19's

the spare wont make a difference when its on as long as the tyre size is correct for that rim as the overall circumference of the wheel/tyre will be the same as the 19'' fitted.

as for the Coopers... I have no idea sorry

I've watched a few YouTube reviews from Canada for the coopers and they seem to perform quite well

Coopers are a great tyre, I've been running them on my D3, D4 and FL2 for over 10 years.
I run an AT variant - the Zeon LTZ in 275/45/20.
Great for both on and off road, in all conditions ...... I wouldn't run with anything else. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

From what I have read above, and elsewhere on various forums, you should be able to have a spare, the same rolling circumference ? ...... and just to get you home ?

In which case, to take it to the extreme, you can fit a 17", an 18", a 19" and finally a 20" ..... one on each corner ? "just to get you home" ......... but is home 5mls, 50mls or 100mls ?
Too many variables !

NO, the answer is have the same size spare, with ideally, the same tyre, then, you are changing like for like.
DO NOT put yourself and others at potential risk. You know it makes sense.

(do not get me started on space saver wheels) Whistle

my brother drove on a space saver from Strensall Services on the M5 near Worcester to Newquay in a fully loaded up Mondeo 2.5T Estate after suffering a puncture.
He drove at 50/55 and had no issues, no change in handling, or any noticeable difference in any way.

Space savers are not ideal, but a good deal better than the gunk.
As long as the spare is recommended for the car it wont matter what size it is if the rolling circumference is the same.
not advisable long term i.e. more than a single journey but better and safer than being stuck on the hard shoulder these days.

I’m sure we could all swap “war stories” all night Smile.... A couple of years ago, the old Volvo had a puncture on a snowy night in Wester Ross - driving the 60 miles home on frozen, snowy roads with a skinny spare on the back was “interesting”! Every time I got above about 25 the back end developed a mind of its own as the skinny decided to take a different route home from the winter tyre at the other end of the axle! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
