[Wanted] Roof bars (FL2 without roof rails)

Hi all,

Having just lost out on a set of the above due to the ebay seller putting the wrong description Im after another cheap as chips set.

my roof bars from the Evoque aren't thule, but they do have similar foot packs with a bespoke rubber base and door hooks.

My thoughts are that they are either a Thule copy or the Thule FL2 fitting kit will go on, hence me looking for as cheap as possible. (I won the ebay set for £18 posted)

fingers crossed

Rog

I'll check my garage for you over the weekend. I had Thule roof bars for the Freelander, so the won't fit the DS. Not sure on the Fitting kit number though.

Rog.

I have kit 1443, comprising rubber feet 225 and brackets 890. They are no use to me as they don't fit the DS, do you want them for the same price as the other set you won?

So my plan failed.
Many thanks to Gav (GSKM) for the thule fitting kit as pictured above.

My idea was to use the fitting kit on my existing Nordrive bars and feet that were bought with fitting kit for 5 door Evoque. I knew they wouldn't be a perfect fit but was hoping to get a secure one.

However.... my existing bolts are about 3mm too short and having already had to buy large washers to adjust fitting I don't want any more bodge bits like non standard bolts.

Ive looked at Hellfrauds Exodus and Thule feet kits, but they don't fit my existing aero bars.... everyone uses different size/styles of fixing to keep them unique to manufactures.

So I need to either buy a complete new set of bars for FL2 without roof rails, or buy thule bars and feet kit to go with Gavs fitting kit.

Does anyone have a set of roof bars to fit a FL2 without factory rails. Being tight, the cheaper the better as they will only get used for transporting bikes.

TIA

Rog

Get a tow bar rack for bikes would be my advice, not so good if you want to move a van at same time though. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

that will be my next option depending on how cheap the roof bars may be.

Do you have any photos of the style/ends/feet you need? I have a few roof bars in my shed but I am not sure what type of "feet" you are looking for.

the fitting kit is as in the pic earlier in the thread........Thule Rapid Fitting Kit 1443 (Pack of 4)

The foot kit for these has to be Thule.......... Thule Footpack 754 (Pack of 4)

The bars for this footpack have GOT to be Thule as well due to the fitments, they are all unique to individual manufacturers.

Plus i would need the Thule Wing or Aero bars, as the square bars don't have the T-Bar fixing system for bike racks etc.

Its either get the Thule footpack and bars... or get a whole new set of bars from whichever manufacturer.

I think I only have genuine cross bars & not sure what they are from and therefore if they would work (hence asking for photos)!

I bought Whispbar roof bars from Roofbox.co.uk and they bolt directly into the body of the car so clamps needed. They are excellent.

I too would like a tow bar and bike rack but just too expensive for a few bike trips a year. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
