New tyre recommendation

Hello.

I have a Freelander 2 190bhp on 235/60 R18 103V Pirelli Scorpion Zeros. The car whines over 60mph and this has been traced to the tyres (swapped with other wheels and tyres and the whine disappeared). Tread is around 4mm.

Time to replace with new tyres. Car is mostly used on-road, including motorway, but need tyres which can cope with a Scottish winter too. Zeros have coped fine in the past, but feel perhaps time for something different.

Wondering about Pirelli Verde All Season, Goodyears or General Grabber?

Everyone seems to have their own preference, but any advice welcome....

Thank you.

Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Pirelli Scorpian AT , incredibly quiet tyres especialy for their type but have a very good tread that will cope with some serious muck or snow. Decent mpg , braking and road holding too. They also have a very pronounced rim protection bead Thumbs Up. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Hi

Ive got 235/60R18 Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather on mine at the moment which perform really well with good grip in the wet on tarmac and have been surprisingly good on wet mud too even with 5mm all round but they give quite a drone at motorway speeds so might avoid these if its refinement you are after.

Opposite for what was asked for but hopefully useful all the same. If your going through hell, keep going!

Wrapper of rear pillars 😀

After the original fit Continentals (19inch), which I thought wore out quite quickly especially on the shoulders, (less than 30,000 miles)

I fitted Pirelli Verde Scorpion all season tyres.

These lasted much longer, (about 40,000) and to me seemed to have a better, much finer, tread pattern. (for our very wet climate)

As our roads are getting more and more damaged, I lost 2 tyres to pot holes, making accurate comparison difficult. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 74k+ miles) (MY2015)

+1 for the Pirelli Scorpion Atr's, the wife's got Michelin latitude cross on her Fl2 which are very good too . She previously had General Grabber At's which were a very noisy tyre and which got removed early due to noise .

Thanks guys, a varied response. Has anyone tried the Michelin Crossclimate? Seems new and has good reviews, except it would appear in relation to snow; which is hardly ideal!

Struggling to find Scorpion ATRs in same size, but will keep looking....

Michelin have always been known for long wear. That said depends on driving style and being put on and then tracked at front and rear. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Had mine for about 15000 miles and I am still on 6/7mill with a lot of off road and motorways. I expect to get 40K plus out of them

So, I ended up getting Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season.

Although purchasing them was all very odd - ASDA tyres online price was £100 cheaper than my local tyre fitter's website quote, yet my local fitter was listed on the ASDA website as my nearest fitter for ASDA tyres. So, off I went to the local fitter, showed him his price, showed him the ASDA price was £100 less and asked him if he could just match the ASDA price to save time. He couldn't get anywhere near it! So, I ordered through ASDA and had him fit them. Bizarre! But is does show ASDA's purchasing power.

Tyres are great - much smoother on the road that the Scorpion Zeros.

Snow report to follow over the coming months I hope....
