Will I get improved mpg from Bluefin?

Hi guys,

Just as the title suggests! Will I get improved mpg on my 2010 TD4 auto? I have used the search bar and read through a lot of the old threads regarding Bluefin superchips but don't really see much on fuel economy, most people just talking about power increase, smoother ride etc. When I do read up on mpg it's a mixed bag. Just wondering if anyone has noticed a decent difference. I currently get about 34mpg about town and about 39mpg on long motorway runs.

Thanks

Id be interested to know this too. Mine is 2007 and probably gets about 2mpg higher across the board. I did just change the Aiflow sensor - i read the numbers on it (visible without removal) and got a genuine Ford one for £30. That seemed to give me a boost of 1-2 mpg and smoother driving. Worth trying if yours is getting on a bit.
Phil

Ive had 4 remapped vehicles: Discovery TD5, Fabia VRS, Octavia VRS, BMW 330D - all were smoother and significantly more powerful after the remap -it was the extra grunt that I wanted.
All had slightly worse mpg.
But I dont do enough annual miles to be hugely concerned about mpg.

Essentially all remaps up the turbo boost and increase fuelling - so no way is it likely to save fuel.

The only way it might save some motion lotion is if the increased torque allows you to change earlier to a higher gear and drop the engine rpm. If its in the engine's"sweet spot" then you might save a few ml of fuel. But you have also to consider the £350 to £500 a decent remap will cost and higher insurance premiums. Jules

Just to add another thought - a rough estimate - increasing mpg from 34 to 36 mpg will save about £80 of diesel for every 10K miles , which means it would maybe take 4 - 5 years to recoup the amount spent on the "fuel saving " remap. Jules

I'd be surprised if you could improve on that fuel economy with a Bluefin re map. That is about what I get with mine with the Bluefin loaded & I am not heavy footed!

It is definitely worthwhile for the other benefits imho though.

I had/still have a golf tdi 150, I had it remapped to 190 bhp with more torque, that was at about 40,000 miles. I would say that my fuel figures went from 500 miles per tank to very near 600 miles per tank. its now on 105,000
the remap was paid back in about 18 months, and the grin factor was free!
