Leaking water under engine after running help!

Hi everyone.

Very new to all this and was wondering if any help out there. I've recently bought a 2007 freelander 2 td4-s only had it 4 days, love the car and everything great.
However I noticed a drip under the car every time I use it! It seemed to be water but all the levels are ok. I called garage up and he's told me it's something to do with the air con. I only have the heater on the middle setting so not hot not cold is this true or should I be looking into going back to the garage.

Thanks for reading.

Also I need replacement knobs for the vents inside the car if anyone knows where to get these from as I have had no luck in finding them. Wink

Hi Dave
Re the water, it will be condensate dripping from the air con. As it is running it ices up. On shutdown it melts. Very normal.

I have not replaced the vent knobs but I know they are difficult to do. Replacements are the complete vent I believe. Someone on here did a very skilful in situ repair as I recall using the original knobs or possibly from a scrappy. Try a 'Search'. (See the titles above)

Thanks for that, Daft question, but is the "Climate Control" the same as "Air Con"? and does it work in the same way?

Told you I was new to this lol Rolling with laughter

I am mightily impressed by my Freelander 2!!!

I'll have a look around for the vent knobs

Cheers.

I hope its not icing, its broken if it ices!

AC or Air Conditioning is not just cooling of air, it is also drying. You can't cool the air without reducing the energy content and in doing this you reduce the amount of moisture the passing air can hold. Which results in condensate that ultimately runs out of the bottom of the car.

One thing the English don't seem to understand is that this reduction in moisture means misted windows will clear quicker, so you should keep AC on when its raining or cool outside.

Climate Control is the automatic management of the temperature in the car (there is a sensor behind the steering wheel), Air Con is just one part of the Climate Control system.
