Metropolis USB port

I have a 2014 Metropolis and until today have never tried to use the USB port.

I thought that if I put a usb flash memory stick in - with mp3 music on it, that they should play, but it just comes up with error on the screen.

The book says that only audio devices can be plugged into the usb socket, so presumably after my attempt, a usb flash stick is not classed as an audio device????

Or could it be the formatting/file system of the usb stick?

Can anyone help with this and tell me what should and should not play through the usb port - I only have three weeks of warranty period remaining if it's faulty...............

It's a temperamental system, MP3's will play OK, but I have had errors attempting to play them on my USB stick. Solved by converting the difficult MP3's to MP3 using an online converter Confused they then played OK.
Ensure your stick is FAT32.

how do you convert MP3's to MP3 Confused

I have the same problem with my USB port on my 2013 HSE, some tracks play from USB stick and some don't. The same stick plays all tracks in my daughters Fiesta.

But I just stream off spotify now so don't bother with USB

I just Bluetooth the music files on my phone to the car system. Works a treat. I use the USB to charge stuff. Whistle MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I knew someone would ask that, Go to an MP3 converter online, upload the MP3, it will be accepted and it will output MP3 again. Very Happy There is obviously something wrong with the original MP3 file that the FL2 is not happy with and converting it again seems to do the trick for me.

Sorted!

I used AVS convertor to convert the mp3 files on the USB flash stick to mp3 on a micro SD card and used a USB microSD adapter and I now have several Gb of music playing through the USB port.

I haven't tried the USB flash stick with the converted files yet, I'll have to copy them over at some time in the future and see if they work on the stick, but for now I am happy.

Cheers!
