Just replaced rear Wranglers with 3mm left as one had gone extremely noisy (sounded like a wheel bearing). Not sure of the mileage as they were on my car originally and then my son "stole" them when his were getting low (I don't do many miles now). 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

All these tyres have been down to 3mm having covered 35000 miles - all winter tyres have tragic grip levels at 3mm but I have never understood the myth that winter tyres wear out quickly - note I use winters all year round

Wrangler HP All Seasons lasted 30k miles with them all between 3mm and 4mm when changed. I'm quite happy with that. Replaced them with the same tyre and this set has done 7k miles and used just over 1mm of tread so should be about the same.

Most miles are motorway and I don't hammer it on the roundabouts and corners (we have other cars for that!) as the shoulders do wear quickly otherwise.

Of that 30k miles probably 3k has a 1.5t caravan on the back.

Kwik Fit were struggling to get that tyre, it seems that Good Year have replaced it with one that is more of a pure road tyre so I'll be looking elsewhere next time. Shame.

I have,amongst others a 2012 XS. The continentals that were fitted from new, when i bought the car lasted 21000 ks. fitted Hankooks ATs these have done 65000Ks with about 5000Ks left in them. They have been an excellent tyre cost was $210 a tyre f&b.

This is an interesting topic being a new FL2 owner. Mine is on what I think are its first set of tyres still, Pirrelli Scorpians. They have 3mm of even tread left on all four tyres and I'm wondering how much more to get from them, especially as it's Summer and tread is not as important! They have done 27000 miles to date. Your comments on noise of tyres as they get low of tread and when you suggest I change them are appreciated?

I use to run Isuzu Troopers for over 15 years doing 50000 each year whilst towing most of the time. It was mainly motorway and A road miles. I ran BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres and never once got less than 100000 miles out of a set. My record was 120000 miles!
I was sorry to see they don't make them in the same size as my FL2 has on it.

I have never noticed tyres getting noisy as they wear. I would be fitting new tyres at 3 mm.
BF Goodrich ATs are the best tyres that I have ever used.
For many years I drove first Range Rovers fitted with Michelins, Then a Defender td5 fitted with BF Goodrich all over Aus.
Some very extream roads and enviroment. never a problem never a flat in 150000ks first set 70000ks mostly done in the North of the country second 80000ks. Was then talked into Coopers these were noisy and I didn't like the way they performed, they also wore more rapidly than the BFs.

I used the EU tyre specs ratings label to get the best for wear, noise and fuel and ended up with the scorpion verde's (rated B &C). I have yet to see a tyre rated A for anything in a 17inch size

I have to say they are far quieter then the wranglers, smooth, grip well and seem to be wearing well so far. I changed them at 38k with 3 mm.  MY2014 SD4 XS

Ok not a Freelander but the car I swapped it for - Ford Kuga with 'intelligent' AWD.

Reckoned it had around 3mm of tread on the Continental tyres when I purchased it and it had done 60,000. Had a blow out on the motorway so replaced all for with Pirelli Verde. Happen to post something on the Kuga site and the previous owner of the car replied 'oh did you know they are the original tyres'. I think that is pretty good going

I got 44K on the original Pirelli Scorpion tyres that came with the car. Every year I had the tyres switched round fronts to back or flipped. Unlike most tyres the Scorpions are uni-directional. The switching I learnt from my Rover 75 that ate front tyres

I got 43000 out of my fronts & almost 46000 out of the rears of my 235/60/18 Wranglers, on my previous fl2
When my current scorpion zeros need changing, I'll be going for wranglers on my newer fl2!

Back in the old days when I had a company Ford Granada which generally cruised on motorways all the time, I had a call from my transport manager saying that they were confused that something was wrong with their record system because my car had apparently any never had tyres replaced and was nearly on 70k miles. It had gone in for a service and they called the garage to check the condition and although still legal put four new tyres on. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Mine Wranglers went at 25K. Remember you need to move them front to back (same side) every 10K or so as uneven wear is the death of your 4 WD drive line and saving 2 pence on any tyre wear is not worth attempting IMO. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

22,000 miles from new on Conti Cross Contact and still 5mm left all around (ie half worn, assuming you change at 2mm).

Although shoulders may not last as long on front (time for a rotation to avoid that issue - just bought the car).
