United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
Sell in South East or Cornwall for best price ?

Hi, long time lurker on here and very appreciative of advice on tyres and especially peeling wheel arch trim (replaced from Duckworth),

I'm sadly having to part with my 12 FL2 as we're moving to Australia (oh the pain Wink ) and have offers from friends in either the South East or family in Cornwall to sell it for us, looked at WeBuyAnyCar and price does not seem too competitive so going to try private sale.

Does anyone have a view on where it would sell better or is second hand much of a muchness ?

Really appreciated

Thanks

Much of a muchness I guess, but the South East is surely a bigger market?

Not sure about private sales, but a trader will move cars about. Example - we sold my late father's Rover in Northumberland to a local trader (recommended by local dealer - they passed on their trade ins to him), and he shipped it straight down to Norfolk, where apparently the demand was greater. There are lots of FL2s on the roads here in East Anglia, so there must be a market here for them. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Forget using we rip off your car (WBAC) as they are not going to give anything like a fair price. To work out the real retail price you need to look at several web sites retailing cars to include LR itself.

Full retail carries costs, as punter wants a discount so take £250 to £500 off, they have to give a warranty so take £500 off for that. Its serviced (allegedly), 12 months MOT ticket and given a wash and vac so remove another £300 to £500 and the rest is profit (plus up selling fiance). So your car value is better than WBAC by up to 2K and 2 to 3 K less than a dealers windscreen price. Your car will sell better in Winter be it private or not. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
