The blue BMW 1 series at the beginning looked to be all over the carriageway too. Maybe they'd both just come from the same pub after having a high powered business lunch.

The beemer was I agree but may have been eager to get past the merc. I'd been on the phone since the Ripley junction and with the merc since Alfreton junction. The beemer came into play later on.

Footage somewhat blurry prior to the Little Eaton island as I'd zoomed in to get a closer view for the footage. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Quick sample footage. The motion detection was far too sensitive even on lowest setting so opted for this in parking mode which uses less space on the card and less power.

That being said, as it does not record sound, I'd be tempted to change it back to motion detection if I know I am parking in areas where there has been vehicle crime recently for example. Piece of cake to change with the app Thumbs Up

It's a clear enough picture . I think I might invest in a new dash cam. Have a RoadHawk , which is great, but had it for at least 3 years now. Somehow I feel naked going out in a car without a dashcam now, sort of vulnerable to everyone else on the road.
Anyone else feel like this ?

I had a Roadhawk DC-2 before this which became faulty hence the new camera. Funny you should mention being without a camera because last year I had my first DC2 replaced under warranty and sent it back to them but was without it for several days and it just felt odd without that peace of mind. Nothing happened but good old sods law worried me Laughing

I have learned a good lesson today with the new camera. I witnessed a car forcing another car onto the pavement when the offending driver set off without looking (no contact made) and this was just yards from our house. The camera only caught the very end of the incident because I did not realise that while the camera voice is still summarising matters, the camera isn't yet running.

Basically, the camera plays a little melody then informs you of any parking incidents (usually 1 which is me closing the door causing the sensor to detect it). It then states that GPS is connected before pausing for a few awkward seconds then it declares that the continuous recording has started. I thought that the voice was just playing catch up and it would be recording already but obviously not! I'll be sitting on the drive until I get the full confirmation in future Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

See that a lot, they are there own worst enemy, first time I drove a hgv through London I couldn't believe how they didn't notice or care about the danger they put themselves in, for the record I also ride a bike ( Land Rover one Cool ) Common sense isn't very common.

With nobody behind me at the lights, I did some lurking because I thought some serious road rage was on hand for a minute. The guy in the white van was leaning out of the window at one point.

Attention all Oldies

A toe rag ran into the back of me while I was stationary in traffic. Fortunately no injuries or damage to me or my car, but said toe rag reversed and drove off at speed without attempting to exchange details. I have it all on dashcam, front and rear, and thinking that he drove off possibly because he may not have insurance I reported the incident to the police.

The police are reviewing the matter including the dashcam footage and said they will prosecute if there is evidence that will stand up in court and this will include failing to stop after an accident.

They also said that anything on dashcam that shows me committing an offence would also be subject to prosecution - fair enough.

I had to show my documents; driving licence, insurance, MOT - fair enough.

But here comes the crunch for the oldies. You have to renew your licence when you reach 70 years old if you want to keep driving - it's free and dead easy to do online - but the police person told me that I would be surprised at how many people fail to renew and then when reporting an incident such as mine they find out they don't have a valid licence so they get done for that.

So be sure to renew your licence if needed and if you report anything to the police make sure you are fully legal and if you submit dashcam footage expect to be "nicked" if there is anything on it to put you in the wrong. Remember that your speed is shown on the footage. As for me I was all goodie, goodie legal (oh for the days of youth when you cast caution to the wind!).

throughout my career I worked on video transmission.

In the late 90's we developed Europe's only two way video mobile phone. Later we built News Broadcasting equipment.
Now everyone is a Journalist ! ..... in fact news broadcasters request footage from mobile phones. Interestingly the Police now say don't stop and record video ..... get out of the area !

With the proliferation of dash cams ......... everyone wants to be a Traffic Police Officer ........ and a Judge ....... and a Jury.

.......... but who is watching them !! ..... beware.

.
