Front Windscreen Wiper Noise

New car .................well it's new to me.

Ongoing maintenance on my 2011MY, SD4 HSE

There was an annoying loud ticking sound when the wipers came to their right hand extent. I took them off and removed the plastic cover (do they call it the plenum cover) to find the wiper mechanism arm was scraping on the windscreen heater elements, A quick fix using using three cable ties to hold the elements away from the arm and it's now cured.

The main problem I had was in spite of using a small purpose made puller, was getting the wiper arms off the splined shaft. Or rather one was easy the other one a pig. I resorted to using penetrating oil and turning the puller with a pair of grips.

Once off it's just I think five screw clips and the plenum cover just pulls forward starting at one edge. It simply comes off.

It easily goes back into position.

Not much help to you now but for the future I have found this invaluable from Halfrods.
It's actually a ball joint splitter but works amazingly well, they just pop right off. Just remember to leave the nut on the thread so the tool doesn't skate off the spindle Thumbs Up

It's a pity there isn't a like button to push. There is always some way to do stuff.
