I started my apprenticeship in a rootes dealership in the sixties and one of the jobs on an imp service was to change front and rear wheels diagonally and of coarse remember to adjust the tyre pressures,18 front 30 rear, one service I forgot managed to get up to approx 60mph on road test went into a vicious weave before spinning between two cars and ending up at the entrance of a house drive with no damage other than earth and grass under a couple of the wheel rims l drove very gingerly back to the garage broke the tyre beads and removed the debris, made sure it never happened again! Shocked

2 Kerb Stones worked well in the back of a Triumph 2.5 PI especially as our kerbing subcontractors labourer used to do 2 of our cars at the end of October and remove them at the end of March.

In the days of the first Vauxhall Victor another of our Engineers had 2 lead blocks cast which fitted in the gap at each side of the boot floor and the inside of the rear wings. They ended up as a permanent mod as the handling of the car was so bad at any time of the year.
