Problem with my freelander

Can anyone give me some advise....I have a 2010 freelander.done 42.000 miles ..went to get in car ...fob didn't work ...
Had my 2 fobs checked ...and they were both giving strong signals...had it diagnostics tested ...and was told it was either
RF receiver in roof or wiring loom in the NS a post. and was told it would cost depending on which one it was ...between 500
and 800 pounds ...am I being ripped off

No idea if you are being ripped off but you could try a bit of cheaper self help first. Do the hard reset trick and fit the extra earth lead and ensure your battery is fully charged.

At least its better to have tried and failed as your car will like the earth lead anyway before parting with wads of cash and you may just get lucky. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Scotland 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Firenze Red

Had the same problem , turned out it was corrosion in the contactc of the RF receiver, £45 for the receiver, 1hrs labour to detect and fit new reciver
