Time to say goodbye?

Contrary to all the good advice that I received from members recently, sadly,my Freelander has been traded-in for something more economical. It has been a joy to own,but the time was right for a change.Although I haven't been a regular contributor,I really have enjoyed the banter and the wealth of knowledge that members have of a truly great car, despite the reliability issues.I will still keep in touch from time to time.Keep up the good work!

I have bought a 63 plate VW Tiguan Tech Match Bluemotion 4Motion which has the more powerful (177bhp) 2.0tdi engine with the DSG box.I don't have the need for proper 4x4,but this will suit my needs perfectly.
I finished work a year early, just two weeks ago,and will be doing a lot of running around.I've only had the car a few days, and already noticed an appreciable difference in fuel consumption.

It's funny you should say this as this is the exact same type of car I've just sold to come back the the freelander fold. Yep, agree about the fuel economy, and being a VW, it does every thing it's supposed todo. No more, no less. It just felt, dare I say boring? I never once looked back at it after parking it, I just never truly enjoyed driving one as much as I did the freelander. The VW is reliable, apart from the fuel tank flap actuator failing (on a less then 3 year old car when I bought it) it filled the job is was supposed to do, just not memorable. Smile

I must admit that I did enjoy driving my Freelander and it always put a smile on my face.I wanted to buy a later HSE but it was just out of my reach budget-wise.
I agree with the comment that the Tiguan is boring, and that is why I hesitated in buying one. Having said that,I have the panoramic roof and heated seats that were two things that I can't seem to do without. It handles well and the 177bhp engine is powerful, and it is very comfortable.
Thanks for the good wishes.

Hmmm I also now have a 2016 Tiguan and honestly cannot say that fuel is any better in fact slightly worse, Auto slow changing in my very hilly bendy road area, uncomfortable drive and something I can't get my head around is there not being any indication on instrument cluster that your bloody lights are on, small thing I know but Embarassed

Anyway enjoy. Smile If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Believe or not,as I have only had the Tiguan a week,I have not driven in the dark yet,so cannot comment.I've already found a few small niggles, such as the electric seats not having a memory feature, which was a pain yesterday when I was cleaning the interior and caught the seat adjustment. It was a pain re-setting the adjustments back to where they were originally. Also, the folding mirrors don't fold when you lock the car.You have to use the mirror adjustment in the car to fold them.I am sure there will other niggles as time goes on,but I still find it comfortable for me.Last Sunday we went to Morecambe from Yorkshire, which is about a 2 hour journey and all was fine.Only time will tell.
