Hi all,

First time posting here <wave> - I've done a search for this but perhaps my google-fu is weak...

I'm sure I'm not imagining that I used to be able to switch over to snow/grass/gravel and the other modes and not have to command-shift. It's the only option I have now. Sport mode is ok, just anything other than standard mode = forced to use command shift. Is this indicative of something serious?

Also, the car feels a bit sluggish, when I release the throttle it acts like I'm gently braking, very subtly.

If you're in using any of the TR programs in D then it should be in auto mode and no need to Command Shift.
If you're in S and use anything other than Special Programs off then it will be in Command Shift not auto.

Not unheard off to find your foot is slightly catching the brake pedal while on the accelerator.

The unusual thing is, I'll be in D, and without touching the gear lever, def not in S, switch to a TR program and it'll put me in Command Shift.

EDIT: And definitely not catching the brake pedal. Even when not touching the pedals at all, with cruise control on, when I disengage cruise control it seems like there's some engine/drivetrain braking.

the gear lever needs to be physically knocked over to the left into sport mode for it to then go into command shift manual.

if the gear lever is staying over to the right (D) but you are seeing the command shift gear inbetween the dials then it sounds like you have a problem. Maybe needs a reflash of the auto box software

having said all that ill try it out on my after work......

Worth watching as guy is in a HSE auto and doesn't use the gear shift at all, so from that I surmise that you don't go into command shift mode when turning the TR dial

I'm 90% sure it's not in Sport when this is happening... will just pop out now and check.

So, unless this is an intermittent fault that suddenly started to behave after posting here, I have made my virgin post on Freel2 a spectacularly embarrassing one.

Just took her for a spin. in D. Changed TR through all the modes. Auto no problem.
Switched to S, did it again, command-shift came on as rchrdleigh/RogB said.

Looks like I have a fully functioning transmission and TR system, and a brain that needs a full service.

so using TR in sport mode automatically puts it into 1st/2nd ?

Yes.

If selecting Sports mode then TR, command-shift s1. Ditto if in TR then selecting Sports.

With similar reported faults in the aircraft world, we used to say " Seat to stick interface replaced" (or reprogrammed)
