Radio control panel without light...

Hello everyone,
before bringing the car by an electrician because I have a little problem, I wanted to ask:
it is normal that the radio control panel, to understand where you insert the CD, and that the small LCD display where you read the time, both in the dark?
Why did not the backlit keys like the rest of the controls?
In fact for example, the climate controls are all easily visible at night ...

Instead, the little problem that I mentioned is that it is "eaten" the CD and I can not get it out ...

My car is a SE version MY 2007 FL2 160 cv

Many thanks to you all for the answers, you have been very kind, but can you also confirm that the panel remains in the dark? Or is there something that just does not work well in my?

I thought I would update on my situation incase others have the same issue... today I received a 2nd hand head unit from eBay for £33 posted.

Swapped them and worked perfect now..... issue is therefore definitely head unit, might be some kind of dry joint etc - planning to open up the old one and gander at a later date..
