Bearing or tyre noise ?

The wifes 07 Fl2 has got an annoying noise coming from the front of the car . It is very noticably at 30/35mph and less noticably but still there as speed increases . The car had a new front hub/bearing on the drivers side 3 yrs ago . I' ve just swapped the General Grabber AT's from front to rear and vice versa , the tyres have done 27k . The noise wasn't as prominent when the tyres were on the rear . Compared to my Fl2 this one is very noisy , any opinions gladly welcome .

I'm not sure swapping the tyres around is a good idea but someone on here will know.

And if Sheffield was sunny today I would be trying out my new Lidl pressure washer and foam gun but it's pouring down Mr. Green

Front to rear same side around 10K is a must in my opinion for equal tyre wear and that gives less stress on Haldex etc. Was on the service sheet at one time but removed. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

agreed. Fronts will wear faster as FL2 is FWD most of the time. As I see it unequal tyre circumference will put extra stress on the whole transmission when the Haldex is active on grippy surfaces. 1978 Laverda Jota. Stolen...

To return to the OP, if it is tyre noise it will vary (often dramatically) on different road surfaces. If it's mechanical then it won't. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Why not swap all wheels with the wifes fL2 and see if the noise moves with them

Looks like a wheel swap is imminent.

Put the wheel in the air then spin it. If you hear or feel anything at all it's the wheel bearing more than likely. See my thread if it is for some guidance if you want to give it a try.

In case you missed this which I posted yesterday, it's worth looking at Blackcircles for prices at the moment. Certainly a good price for Wranglers, the guy in the tyre shop who fitted them said that they couldn't buy them in at this price.

Wranglers 235/65/17 I got the following prices each

ATS £117
Asdatyres.com £108
Blackcircles £96

These are to replace the front one which at 26k miles are down to just under 4mm 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE
