Recent intermittent click/tap sound from rear

Hi,

just wondering if anyone can help..???

Over the last month my FL2 Sport (2010 plate) has just started intermittently making a click/creak/tap (a combo of all three) noise from the rear.
Its not a loud noise but its there and wasnt before and car is fine otherwise, but its annoying....yeah I know, it gets obsessive Wink

Sounds like on its driver side but could be central.
Have taken equipment and anything out of glove boxes/doors to eliminate possibility of those things rattling/tapping

Usually occurs when pulling away and maybe releasing clutch sharpish into first (as bonnet rises slightly),E.g when in stop start traffic and trying to keep up with it etc.
Doesnt happen when doing clutch in other gears though or at high speeds (70 mph of course!)
Same noise can sometimes happen when cruising slow (10-20mph) over bumps and pitching side left a bit.

Recent work on FL2 was front and rear brakes (pads and discs no fluid change) in Oct/Nov 2016 by local independent in St Helens (Landy Man). He also told me that the rear diff has a slight wear noise but its not in need of replacing, but to keep an ear out for when it sounds like its taking off like a rocket.
Recently also noticed that my brake pedal has developed a bit of play at top as if air in system a bit, not sure if related to noise problem.

Had thought of it being a bearing or worn suspension/link arm but want to see what else anyone can suggest so I can add to list of things to check when I take it in.

Any ideas appreciated.

Ta

Some have been driven to distraction due to a loose bolt that sits behind the air intake grill on the front wing. Try a search on that.

Had this issue with my 2014 model, progressively getting worse over the last month - exact same symptoms you describe.

Still under warrantee so booked it in this morning to be told it is a driveshaft issue and it is going back in next week as it 'requires a modification to the driveshaft'.

Don't know if that helps.

Had car seen to today, result was :

'Found SSM 61017 relevant. Removed rear drive shafts. Applied locktite 638 to splines. Refitted drive shafts. Now all ok'

BUT

Clicking noise still there when I collected car so it is going back in a couple of weeks.

Car went back in today, seems they re-did the Locktite fix but couldn't explain why it actually hadn't been done the first time.

Reported all sorted.

BUT

Noise still there so I took the service Manager out and he agreed still there so left the car until it is sorted.

Interesting chat with him, this is a known issue - it must be or they wouldn't have a fix.

Also talked about Haldex issues and he agreed it would be beneficial to change fluid and clean filters every (about) 60k miles.

Rear driveshafts, flanges, bearings etc. changed under warrantee. noise improved but still there.
Don't think more can be done.
