Yarwell Pay & Play

hi all - new to the world of Landrover & wanted to know if any members had been to Yarwell Pay & Play and whether it's a good starting point for a total offroad novice?

All advice gratefully received.

Did a Land Rover Experience day at Rockingham a couple of years ago in one of their Freelanders, and they ran the afternoon session at Yarwell. So yes I'd say it's a good place to have a go. As with any similar site, you will have to pick and choose your routes according to your vehicles capability and the level of risk of damage you are comfortable with.

Funnily enough I drove past there about an hour ago and wondered about paying another visit.

I emailed them & they replied that it would be better to go a driver course before trying out Yarwell for the first time.

Did you use your own vehicle on the Rockingham one?

No, used their vehicle for the Experience Day. I did go back the next day and took the family for a quick ride round on the tracks that I'd already done, and knew were OK for ground clearance.

I must admit I'd done a fair bit of off-roading before I even went on the course. If you've never done any off road driving before then I would definitely get some training, not just to protect your Freelander, but for your own safety.

As for the guys at Rockingham, they were first class.
