Cleaning the rear side window vents

There'a almost a decade's worth of dust in those peculiar vent grilles below the rear side windows. They would seem to be a part of the inner trim panel, so I can't see how I could easily remove them. The grime and grot is easily visible from outside the car, and - horror of horrors - my wife has spotted them as an example of ghastly filth.

Has any clever person on here worked out how to clean the awkward blighters?

Both are rapid and entirely brilliant ideas.

I had actually thought of the compressor - sadly I don't have one.

The one about getting the wife to do it is tricky. I'm selling her car to fund the purchase, and it's just possible she may see it as being most definitely a job that falls into my area of responsiblity.

Any more ideas fellas?

Valeters use a clean paint brush to do the dash vents.

Vacuum in one hand & kids pipe cleaners in the other as you dislodge the dust. Twist a few together to stiffen them. An air compressor works well.

Seems like a good alternative to cigarettes which are bad for you.
