Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Hi All,

Update:

Everything is now back in place and testdrive done. Silence is now back again Very Happy Very Happy I would say I am pretty satisfied with the job done.

The Haldex was topped up and drained of 70ml after a 5 minute run. 500ml was filled on the bench and then I got 170ml extra into it after the test run. Then I drained 70ml, so I have got 600ml into it in total.

One orange happy bunny back onto the road Smile Smile

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Update:

The DIY rebuilt diff fitted and test drown. I suspected the Evoque diff to be the cause of the increasing noise and vibration developed during this summer but there is no change in noise/vibration from earlier. This confirms only 3 things:

- The Evoque diff which I removed was healthy Smile
- The rebuilt diff is cured and OK Very Happy
- The cause of the noise/vibrations lies somewhere else Shocked Big Cry

Feels like giving a sh!t about this now and just see how things develop over time Question Question

The good thing is that I have performed a fluid change to all the driveline units during this process.

Hi all!

It has been a chaise for bearing noise the last year. No attempt did really remove all noise, only changed the noise. But yesterday everything went silent! My smile went from ear to ear and now, for the first time since purchase I can enjoy a silent drive train (knock on wood)!!

The list since last update:
- Put the evoque diff back in early this year - noise actually increased.
- Replaced worn front wheel bearing before summer - no change.
- Put the rebuilt diff back in yesterday, discovered a pretty worn rear wheel bearing. replaced this one in the same operation. Silence!!

Seems that the evoque diff is in an early stage on its way out and the other wheel bearings has also played their role to contribute to noises. The one has overlapped the other one in the process, so things has never been silent. The wheel bearing replaced yesterday was actually replaced for a good year ago but the quality of the part must have been pretty rubbish. It never crossed my mind checking this one Very Happy

So far, so good. Lessons learned Smile Smile
