United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Auto Sumatra Black

I've just cleaned the car and checked the rails. They look like new which is more than can be said of my paintwork. Sad

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 Dynamic Auto Indus Silver

Hi
Still happy with my roof rails, no corrosion etc. Worked out yesterday that I carried 138 kilos of timber on them, not planned, but when I went to collect, trailer wasn't big enough!!!!!

When I opened the box and sat them on the roof there was a bit of a gap between the roof and the centre fixing point but as you bolt them down they fit perfectly. Fixing is easy, on the black roof trim, approx. 200mm from the top of the windscreen, there is a little cross which you drill an 8mm hole through, under this is a large nut which has a plastic coating over it. If you push a small screwdriver through the 8mm hole into the top of the nut it reveals an internal thread in the top of the nut. The rear two fixings, simply remove the black plastic fixing that holds the "gutter" trim on. They are supplied with all fixings, rubber gaskets and some sealant for the threads, you just need an allen key, finish is very good and for me, I prefer the look.

It's a while, but ... I just bought these as well, however, my Freelander is fitted with normal M10 screws in the front fixing points, so no internal thread. I am not sure if the previous owner just fitted them or if this is original. Anyone else with this problem? How does this nut with the internal thread look like?

Regards
Philippe

Roof rails

Hi
Sorry, it has been a while and I did not take any photos, I cannot remember exactly what this looked like.
Please have look at the following which may help, it shows the front fixing at about 5 minutes 35 seconds
