Rear Spoiler - any benefits?

Just wondering if there are any benefits from fitting a rear spoiler or are they just cosmetic?

Rear window seems to 'muck up' very quickly on a damp road/wet road - can they help prevent it? Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I don't have one so can't say from experience, but these guys seem to think it's a no.

I've got one, purely cosmetic I would say. Rear window still gets covered in Censored after 5 minutes. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

With one fitted it was odd to see water drops falling from the trailing edge of the spoiler and falling straight down parallel to the rear window, even at normal B roads speed; it would suggest that there was little turbulence, but the rear window got dirty just the same!

The other advantage should have been reduced drag but, with or without it having been fitted, the mpg was just the same Rolling Eyes

It does look good though Wink (and it stop you from ever putting your car through a roll over car wash, which is no bad thing!)

I've got one and the rear window still gets covered in muck quickly. I just preferred the look of it. 12MY 61plate FL2 TD4 auto GS Orkney Grey Roof spoiler full size spare
