I have noticed a touch of this, but as the car hardly gets used it is not an issue. But will have to fix it when the day comes. Use some aluminium etch primer first & let it dry for a day in warm weather, then under coat & let it dry for a day, then paint it.

If you do want to rush the job which I would avoid at least use aluminium etch primer. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Wish I saw this post before I bought my after market roof rails. Took me 2 and half hours to fit. All rear plastic plugs snapped and had to be drilled and have a screw inserted to pull out rest of the plug. Drilling the hole in the front part was the easier bit. Decided to put cross bar on before fitting as there did not seem much space to work with. Put roof rails on the car, front lined up ok rears are a different story. The rear was too wide and the rear most holes did not line up. It looked like it was too long by at least 5mm. So had to elongate the holes in the bracket and a ratchet strap to pull the sides in so I could fit the screws in. It is on now and looks ok ish. Should have bought an LR one. GS Sd4 2012

I think they cost about £250 with the cross bars from the Duckworth's tent at the LRO Show at Peterborough that year.

They were taken off for about 6 months but then put them back on.
