Iphone and Bluetooth connection

I have a 58 plate SE, I upgraded my iPhone last month from a 5C to an SE.

The new phone links up when I first start up with no issues but it does not stay linked, it might loose the Bluetooth connection after a few minutes or after an hour, sometimes it relinks when I tell it to and sometimes I have to restart the link from the phone.

Does anyone know if the LR Bluetooth software requires up grading or should I be looking to Apple to sort things at their end - the phone is running the latest iOS 10.2.

Thoughts anyone ?

I would say its more likely the car Bluetooth needs a software update.

I seem to remember a LR salesman telling me that LR deleted Iphones off the compatibility list for a while due to Apple issues.

It was in for service back in October and I was told that there were no software upgrades required....

may be I will have a chat with them.

Sometimes the Bluetooth unit takes a while to see my iphone and I then have to select it Most other times it sees it after a few seconds after starting the car up without me doing anything. . My phone hasn't changed recently and last time I had car serviced at main dealer all software was correct. Not sure why the variability

For whatever reason, the older phone modules (like the one originally fitted in a 58 plate car) cannot be upgraded by the dealers to the latest phone module software version i.e. the 2011-2012 software. Until now in order to get compatibility with newer phones, the phone module itself had to be replaced to the newest version from 2011-2012. Which is what I had to do to get my iPhone 6S working properly in the car.

Now, we are able to flash the 2011-2012 software into an old phone module, which the dealers cannot do. So you don't need to buy a "new" module, the existing one can be updated, just not by the dealers... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

I can post an updated module to you as an exchange, you post me your old one, or I know a couple of people in the UK who would be able to make the software update directly in the car. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

the idea of getting it updated here appeals, I was going to take it to a local LR dealer to see if they can sort the software but it sounds like you have a better route.

Also I have read that the screen displays can also be updated to give more info, could they do this as well.

The dealer cannot update the software of an older module to the latest revision, all they can do is sell you a new module, for £350 + installation...

Yes the special instrument cluster update could be done at the same time as updating the bluetooth.

I have a new contact in Warwickshire who should be able to do this, I will check with him and see. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

That is what I thought - I will look out for messages from you.

I am based in Bedfordshire so someone close would be good but I will travel if needs be.

I have an 2007SE which I have had since 2010 and have never had a software update.
I have also gone through all the versions of the iPhone, I currently have a 6 and my wife a 5S and we have never had any problems with their Bluetooth connectivity.
All these phones have been new, factory unlocked - that is never supplied as part of a contract .
I know the likes of Vodaphone etc over write some of a phones software with their 'version' sometimes to prevent tethering so I wonder if that is part of the problem some people are having.
Never get a phone via a contract, buy it outright and unlocked on the longest 0% card you can find - it works out much cheaper Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

What do you mean by "failure" it's not working at all? When you press the phone button on the radio do you get the phone menu?

You'll have give some more detail here... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
